This time of year brings about a special excitement within our bank. Each Spring for the past 9 years American Bank & Trust has made donations to schools through our Spirit Card program. This program promotes school pride and generates much needed income for school districts.
A Spirit Card is an AB&T Debit Card that showcases the school district’s name, colors and mascot. The card is linked to a customer’s checking account and when account holders make a purchase with their Spirit Card, we donate money back to the school.
The bank recently donated a combined total of over $21,519 to 8 schools in South Dakota. Here is a breakdown of how each school will use the donated funds:
De Smet Bulldogs – $2,513.48
Non-fiction books, speech therapy materials, a trombone and a computer monitor for hallway announcements.
Miller Rustlers – $3,933.67
Gym equipment for weight room, novels for the Junior High, Rustler Rewards program prizes, flex-space floor seats and books for classroom libraries.
Northwestern Wildcats – $987.43
Student study carrels for more privacy and added concentration in classrooms.
Pierre Governors – $3,053.46
Coffee cart for Middle School life skills class, laptop sleeves, books for 4th grade class, chapter books for elementary school, wobble chairs, banners and food display items for lunchrooms and yard signs for Gov to Gov leadership class.
Stanley County Buffalos – $1,141.95
Library books, six-foot tables for the Parkview Building, Clay Target Team logo embroidered on safety shooting vests and office supplies for special education process.
Huron Tigers – $5,026.62
Ball chairs, athletic training equip, prizes for March Madness Reading Challenge, Cheer & Dance workshop registration fees and supplies for the Destination Imagination program.
Wessington Springs Spartans – $3,012.99
Decal wrap for a new bus that will be used for travel to and from school activities.
Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds – $1,854.08
Cricket printer, books for classroom libraries, light covers for classrooms to promote calmness, and sit spots for elementary rooms.
We are proud to say that since the beginning of the Spirit Card program in 2012, American Bank & Trust has donated over $143,400 to the school districts through the Spirit Card program!
Spirit Cards are currently available for the Huron Tigers, Wessington Springs Spartans, Miller Rustlers, De Smet Bulldogs, Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds, Northwestern Wildcats, Pierre Governors and Stanley County Buffalos. New in 2021 – Spirit Cards are now available for fans of the Corsica-Stickney Jaguars, Howard Tigers, Iroquois Chiefs, and James Valley Christian Vikings.
