My name is Amber Nickerson, and I am a Personal Banker with American Bank & Trust.
I grew up in Truman, Minnesota. After graduating high school in Truman, I knew I wanted to be in South Dakota, and I attended the University of South Dakota where I got my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with specialization in photography and a Minor in Art History. After graduating from USD, I started working in banking in Mitchell and building my photography on the side. I moved to Sioux Falls in May of 2022 and started working with American Bank & Trust.
My passions outside of work are my dog, drag racing, art, and taking care of 25+ plants! I have a 5-year-old lab/cattle dog mix named Otis, and he is attached at my hip. I’ve always been an animal person and Otis makes my days a little brighter. My parents first took me racing when I was only six months old, and it has been in my blood ever since! We spend a lot of our summers watching my dad race, between Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion, SD, and Humboldt County Dragway in Humboldt, IA. When it comes to art, I have always been creative and enjoy making art in many forms, primarily photography and painting! My collection of plants is a newer hobby of mine, but I love having a variety of different types of plants in my space. Each one is unique, and they add a little extra color to my life!
Since joining the AB&T team in 2022, I’ve gotten to know many fellow colleagues within the bank and have learned a lot from them! My favorite thing about AB&T is that even though we have many branches spread out over South Dakota and one in Minnesota, we still have a close-knit small-town bank atmosphere where we know our customers by name. We are always eager to help in any way we can! We have many products and services to offer to fit your needs. Our first culture pillar is Customer First, and I always make that my priority when it comes to helping you!
“Focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.”
