Area Schools Have Received Over $121,900!
Part of the vision at American Bank & Trust is to make a positive and lasting impact on communities in South Dakota. One way we accomplish this is through our Spirit Card program. This program promotes school pride and generates much needed income for school districts.
A Spirit Card is a Debit Card that showcases the school district’s name, colors and mascot. The card is linked to a customer’s checking account and when account holder make a purchase with their Spirit Card, American Bank & Trust donates money back to the school.
We are proud to say that since the beginning of the Spirit Card program in 2012, American Bank & Trust has donated over $121,900 to school districts!
The bank recently finished giving their yearly donations. A combined total of $21,254.24 was given to 8 schools in South Dakota. Here is a breakdown of how each school will use the donated funds –
De Smet Bulldogs – $2,578.38
Golf bags for varsity golf team, Laura Ingalls Wilder hard cover book set for 4th grade and speech department educational activity supplies.
Huron Tigers – $5,242.09
Materials and supplies for the Destination Imagination program, sports nutrition program, publish books written by 7th grade class, large portable speaker for Cheer & Dance Team and adjustable wobble stools for kindergarten classrooms.
Miller Rustlers – $3,713.54
Classroom incubator for 1st graders to study the life cycle of a chicken, purchase books for 6th grade classroom, wiggle stools for 3rd grade classroom, Laura Ingalls Wilder Field Trip for the 4th grade class, plant trees around the school grounds and artificial turf for the playground area.
Northwestern Wildcats – $1,025.51
Training for school staff provided by ‘Boys Town’. Training will provide staff with more resources to handle behavior issues that are happening in the classroom.
Pierre Governors – $2,563.54
Wobble seats for 4th grade, sensory resources for Jefferson Elementary, transportation fees for 7th grade field trip, supplies for STEAM night at Jefferson Elementary and 8 foot rock climbing wall at Kennedy Elementary.
Stanley County Buffalos – $1,066.14
Lap desks for classrooms, iPad and Osmo Explorer starter kit for the 1st grade classroom, flag lights to illuminate the outdoor flagpoles, and calculators for better classroom learning.
Wessington Springs Spartans – $3,230.34
Funds toward the purchase of new lunchroom tables.
Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds – $1,834.71
Shelving to hold student’s belongings at the After School Program, “Hey Jack” and “Billie Brown” book series for 2nd grade and education materials that will aid in the education of Middle and High School students in the area of mental health, alcohol use and suicide prevention.
Spirit Cards are currently available for the Huron Tigers, Wessington Springs Spartans, Miller Rustlers, De Smet Bulldogs, Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds, Northwestern Wildcats, Pierre Governors and Stanley County Buffalos. If you would like a Spirit Card, click here.
